Bloodball
A brutal, fast-paced magical sport
ECU’s most popular and competitive magical sport, Bloodball, is a high-stakes game where two teams face off on a magically altered field. Players use a combination of physical prowess and spellcraft to score points by controlling an enchanted orb. The game is known for its intensity, and fans fill Hydra Stadium to cheer on our team as they battle it out against rival universities.
Spikeball
ECU is #2 in the division
While not magical in nature, Spikeball has gained immense popularity on campus. Students form intramural teams and practice on the Campus Green, with regular matches held in Hydra Stadium. ECU’s Spikeball Society often competes with rival schools in heated tournament matches.
Magelight Tag
The ultimate magical hide-and-seek
This campus-wide game combines strategy, magic, and stealth as players attempt to “tag” each other using light-based spells. The game is often played in large teams, with matches spanning entire dorms or areas of Campus Proper. It’s a favorite among first-year students and is often used as an icebreaker at the start of the school year.
Sky Sailing
Take to the skies on enchanted gliders
A popular recreational activity, Sky Sailing involves students piloting enchanted gliders high above campus. While it’s often a peaceful experience, Sky Sailing clubs host regular races and stunt competitions. The sport is particularly beloved by students in the College of Exploration and Martial Prowess.
Runecasting Tournaments
A spell-based competitive game
In these tournaments, students create and activate magical runes in a variety of challenges, testing their creativity, speed, and skill. The tournaments are intense, attracting spellcasters from all colleges, and often involve complex magical puzzles that must be solved under time constraints.
