Ember Coast University Code of Conduct
At Ember Coast University (ECU), we are committed to fostering an environment of academic excellence, mutual respect, and personal growth. The Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all students, faculty, and staff to ensure that our University remains a safe, inclusive, and vibrant place for learning, discovery, and collaboration. The following guidelines establish the principles of behavior that every member of the ECU community is expected to uphold.
Core Values
ECU is founded on the principles of integrity, respect, and responsibility. Every member of our community is expected to:
- Act with Integrity: Honesty in all academic work, relationships, and interactions is fundamental.
- Respect Others: Embrace diversity and demonstrate consideration for others’ rights, perspectives, and property.
- Be Accountable: Take responsibility for your actions, decisions, and their consequences within the community.
General Student Expectations
All students at ECU are required to:
- Adhere to Academic Integrity: Academic honesty is the cornerstone of our University. Acts of plagiarism, cheating, or falsification of academic work are prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.
- Respect Property and University Grounds: Treat all University facilities, property, and resources with care. Vandalism, theft, or destruction of any property—magical or mundane—will not be tolerated.
- Follow Magical Ethics and Safe Practices: Given ECU’s focus on magic, students are expected to follow strict ethical guidelines when practicing magic. Unsafe or unauthorized use of magic, including spells that harm others, damage property, or disrupt campus life, is strictly forbidden.
- Respect Personal Privacy: In the spirit of community, students should respect the privacy of their peers, including their personal space, belongings, and magical practices. Unauthorized use of spells to invade someone’s privacy—such as mind-reading, scrying, or enchantment—without explicit consent is strictly prohibited.
- Participate Respectfully in Campus Life: Students should engage with the ECU community in a way that promotes a positive learning environment. Disruption of classes, events, or other University activities through inappropriate behavior or disrespect will result in disciplinary measures.
Academic Integrity and Responsibilities
ECU takes academic integrity seriously. To ensure a fair and honest academic environment, students are expected to:
- Submit Original Work: All academic work—essays, projects, research—must be the student's own. Use of unauthorized resources or misrepresenting another’s work as one’s own is considered plagiarism.
